Lilly’s Bistro To Host Tuscan Wine Dinner—August 27,28

On August 27th and 28th, Lilly’s Bistro is hosting a Tuscan Wine Dinner featuring special guests Chef Gina Stipo and Oliva Bella founder, Lea Ann Vessels. The 5-course menu will consist of both plated items and communal style with wine pairings for each course.

Chef Gina Stipo is an Italian American who for the past 14 years has lived and worked in Italy, studying Italian cuisine in the countryside of Siena in Tuscany. She owns the cooking school Ecco La Cucina and led food and wine tours throughout Italy. Gina recently relocated to Louisville and is excited to have the opportunity to share her love of authentic Italian cooking with everyone at Lilly’s. Louisville Native Lea Ann Vessels has spent her entire career as a corporate consultant to Procter & Gamble. She also spent that same career eating her way through most of Europe, South America and Mexico. A 3-year assignment in Italy with P&G led to the creation of Oliva Bella, an importer of small Italian family olive oils and balsamicos. The tradition, legacy and generations of these families can be tasted in the hand-harvested olive oils for which the company is best known. Antipasti MistiPanzanella (Tuscan bread salad), finocchiona (salami with fennel seed), Prosciutto di San Daniele con ficchi (prosciutto with figs), pecorino Toscano (Tuscan sheep milk cheese), and prosciutto d’anatra (housemade duck prosciutto)

Primo Piatto – Ravioli alla Maremma (ravioli stuffed with ricotta and spinach served with sage butter)

WINE PAIR: Giacomo Mori 2010 Chianti

Secondo Piatto – Porchetta con Erbe Toscane (roasted pork loin, shoulder and belly with Tuscan herbs); Verdure d’estate (roasted summer zucchini, eggplant, peppers and tomatoes with fresh herbs and Oliva Bella olive oil)

WINE PAIR: Ciacci 2011 Rosso di Montalcino

Insalata del Orto (garden salad with greens, fresh herbs and lemon dressed with balsamic vinaigrette)

WINE PAIR: La Spinetta 2012 Toscana Vermentino

Dolce – Pannacotta alla lavanda con pesche e aceto balsamico (lavender infused pannacotta with fresh peaches drizzled with Oliva Bella balsamic vinegar)
